Saint Germain central medallion/ Medaillon central Saint Germain

Having finished the first border of orange peels appliques, I am now working on the centre of the quilt.

The design

I reproduce it with a frixion pen

The fabric is light enough for me to see the design through it on the table

Je le reproduit à l'aide d'un crayon frixion

Le tissu est suffisamment clair pour que je puisse voir le dessin par transparence en le posant sur la table

I also write the numbers indicating the order for the pieces

Je note aussi les chiffres qui indiquent l'ordre pour appliquer

Then do the same on freezer paper

Même chose sur le papier freezer

This time, I iron it on the right side of the fabric and use it as a template to draw the shape on the piece of fabric

I then cut, leaving a margin

I then use the tracing as a guide to turn in the sewing margin while appliqueing

Cette fois, je le repasse sur l'endroit du tissu et l'utilise comme guide pour tracer la forme sur la pièce de tissu

Je découpe en laissant une marge

Puis j'utilise le traçage comme guide pour rentrer la marge de couture en appliquant

I have used various techniques for appliqueing, a different one for the orange peels, but I never baste my pieces. It is way too much work in my mind. I prefer to skip this stage and enjoy the appliqueing process.

J'ai utilisé plusieurs techniques d'appliqués, une technique différente pour les peaux d'oranges, mais je n'ai jamais bâti mes pièces au préalable. Je trouve que c'est beaucoup trop de travail. Je préfère sauter cette étape et prendre plaisir à appliquer.
