Dresden Plate Quilt, trial and error / Patch Assiettes de Dresde, faire et défaire

I have had a bit of an issue with my Dresden Plate Quilt, and it has taken me some time to reach the final stage of assembling.

J'ai eu quelques difficultés avec mon Patch Assiettes de Dresde, et cela m'a pris du temps pour arriver à l'étape de l'assemblage final.

Here are all 12 blocks ready to be put together

I found this fabric in a local quilt shop. Perfect it seemed.

J'ai trouvé ce tissu dans un magasin de patch local. Il me semblait idéal.

I started assembling the blocks

J'ai commencé à assembler les blocs

And then tried the fabric I wanted for the outer border

But I found the overall effect of the blocks and inner border too pale

Puis j'ai testé le tissu que j'avais choisi pour la bordure extérieure

Mais j'ai trouvé que l'ensemble de blocs avec la bordure intérieure était trop pâle

So I auditioned two more prints to replace the light setting fabric

J'ai donc testé deux imprimés pour remplacer le tissu clair

I decided on the top one but only had a small piece. So I had to put this project on hold while awaiting my order of fabric.

J'ai choisi celui du haut, mais je n'en avais qu'un petit morceau. J'ai donc mis ce projet de côté en attendant ma commande.

And as many of you have no doubt experienced, taking apart what one has just sewn is not much fun and requires a mental effort. So taking a little break is ideal.

Et comme beaucoup d'entre vous en ont fait l'expérience, démonter ce que l'on vient juste de coudre n'est pas très sympa  et demande même un effort de volonté. Alors une petite pause est idéale.

You will see that starting again was worth the result...

Vous verrez que recommencer ce projet en valait la peine...
