Adding the finishing touch... / Ajoutons la touche finale...

Before adding the center to each Dresden plate, I need to cut the backing fabric following the shape of my applique. This will make hand quilting easier afterwards.

Avatn d'ajouter le centre à chaque assiette de Dresde, je dois découper le tissu arrière en suivant le pourtour de l'appliqué. Cela facilitera l'étape de matelassage à la main.

I also do a little trimming on the petals that have too much of a seam allowance

Je recoupe aussi les pétales pour lesquels j'ai laissé trop de marge de couture

Here are the 12 pieces I have removed from the back

Voici les 12 morceaux que j'ai découpés de l'arrière

And I have chosen a dark bluish grey with a flower print for the center

Et j'ai choisi un imprimé à fleurs gris bleu foncé pour le centre

I had thought of using the fabrics from the backing squares, but they are too light to hide the petal seams underneath

J'avais pensé utiliser les tissus des carrés de fond, mais ils sont trop clairs pour cacher les coutures des pétales en-dessous

I think this will work, and I like the little flowers on it

Je pense que cela sera parfait, et puis j'aime les petites fleurs du tissu

To make sure it is centered, I have measured and traced its position with my template

First stage of this project done. I am going to put it aside until I have the opportunity to go to a quilt shop and buy the setting fabric. This will be at Christmas time when I wander into Vermount...

Until then, I have another project I absolutely must get started... a long overdue present...
