Last stage to quilting the border/ Dernière étape pour matelasser la bordure

After basting all around about 3/4 inch from the edge, I attach the binding.

Après avoir surfilé tout autour à 1,5 cm du bord, je couds le biais de finition.

I have used the same flowery print from the back

J'ai pris le même imprimé à fleurs que pour le dos

Now I hand quilt the border. 

I am not using a hoop. It is not necessary here for this straight line.

Maintenant, je matelasse la bordure.

Je n'utilise pas de tambour. Ce n'est pas nécessaire ici pour des lignes droites.

I have only attached the binding on one side of the quilt. I sometimes use a hoop to quilt more complicated designs and it is easier without the bulk of the finished binding.

J'ai juste cousu le biais sur l'endroit du patch. J'utilise parfois un tambour pour un matelassage plus compliqué,et ne pas avoir l'épaisseur du biais terminé rend la tâche plus aisée

What I like about making quilts is that one learns something new all the time. It so happens that just as I had finished hand quilting this one, I browsed through some quilt blogs to find useful tips to hand quilt, and came upon a very useful post that shows exactly how to put the quilt onto the hoop HERE

 Not at all the way I was doing it!!! No wonder I have been finding it hard on the hands... I keep my quilt way too taut!

Ce que j'aime dans la confection de patchwork est qu'on apprend constamment quelque chose. Justement, après avoir terminé de matelasser le centre de ce patch, j'ai jeté un coup d'oeil sur quelques blogs pour trouver des conseils sur la technique du matelassage à la main,et je suis tombée sur un message qui montre précisément comment mettre le tambour ICI

Absolument pas ce que j'ai fait jusqu'à aujourd'hui!!! Pas étonnant que cela me fasse mal aux mains... Je tends bien trop mon quilt!
