Today I am going to share with you a great discovery I just made as I was doing my habitual exploration of quilt blogs. This one is a Spanish blog by Dori from Castellón. I do not usually like log cabin blocks but found this idea fantastic! She gives the turorial to make this little quilt of 27" 1/2 X 27" 1/2 with 195 log cabin blocks, measuring 2 " X 2 ".
To find her tutorial click on Log Cabin Dori . I know, it is in Spanish, but her step by step presentation is very easy to follow.
For those who still have a hard time, here are the important facts:
- Dori uses Pellon to sew her log cabin blocks marked with 1 cm grid. In the US they sell this Pellon with a 1 inch grid which you can trace at 1/2 inch.
- There are only 4 types of blocks: the roof block without the chimney, the roof block with the chimney, the façade block, and the door block which you can use with the door on the right or on the left.
- She sews the blocks in three columns of 42 blocks.
Aujourd'hui je vais partager avec vous une trouvaille que je viens de faire en m'adonnant à mon habituelle exploration des blogs de patchwork. Elle vient du blog de Dori de Castille. Je n'aime habituellement pas les blocs de log cabin mais j'ai trouvé cette idée absolument fantastique! Elle donne le tuto pour réaliser ce petit patchwork de 70 cm X 70 cm constitué de 195 blocs log cabin, mesurant 5 cm X 5 cm.
Pour trouver son tuto cliquez sur Log Cabin Dori . Je sais, c'est en espagnol, mais ses explications avec photos sont vraiment très faciles à suivre.
Pour les personnes qui ont cependant un peu de difficulté, voici les points importants:
- Dori utilise comme support du pellon quadrillé en centimètres. Je sais que Burda en faisait il y a un certain temps... Sinon, cela existe en inchs, il suffit de retracer les 1/2 inch.
- Il y a seulement 4 types de blocs: le bloc toit sans cheminée, le bloc toit avec cheminée, le bloc façade et le bloc porte, que vous pouvez orienter vers la droite ou vers la gauche.
- Dori coud ses blocs en trois colonnes qui représentent 42 blocs.

Allez sur sa "Pagina Principal", elle montre comment réaliser en un clin d'oeil un joli patchwork d'enfant avec des voiliers.
